Liberalism, atheism, male sexual exclusivity linked to IQ [∞]

Evolutionary psychologist Satoshi Kanazawa at the the London School of Economics and Political Science correlated data on these behaviors with IQ from a large national U.S. sample and found that, on average, people who identified as liberal and atheist had higher IQs. This applied also to sexual exclusivity in men, but not in women. The findings will be published in the March 2010 issue of Social Psychology Quarterly.

Change the default location for screen shots

I found a useful tip on Mac OS X Hints that enables you to change the default location for screen shots. I prefer to have them saved to my Downloads folder instead of cluttering up my desktop. Open Terminal and use this command:

defaults write com.apple.screencapture location /Users/<username>/Downloads

The change will take effect the next time you log in.

The claim: 3-D movies can induce headaches and sickness [∞]

The epic science-fiction film “Avatar” has broken box-office records. But it has had some unwanted side effects.

Many viewers have complained that “Avatar” and other 3-D films give them headaches, nausea, blurred vision and other symptoms of visually induced motion sickness.

The problem, studies indicate, is that the films often cause unnatural eye movements.

Happened to me after watching Avatar in IMAX 3D. Lasted for about half an hour.
