Open letter to Unicast
To: webproducts@unicast.com Subject: Full Screen Superstitial
I can’t believe your company Unicast has the nerve to unveil such a product. People already hate large animated banner ads and pop-ups. Don’t you guys realize that the Internet is not the same as television? Take a look at Google. Google is having tremendous success with its text ad service. Why do you think that is? Consumers don’t like having ads thrown in their face in such a manner. In my opinion, your new product is just as bad as a virus. Once you unveil Superstitial on the web sites mentioned on unicast.com, the Internet community will fight it until its death.
Stop now before you make a huge mistake.

I used AOL IM on Windows the other day and noticed they are streaming television commericals within the buddy list window. I couldn’t close the app fast enough.

Yeah they started audio ads on AIM a couple of months ago. Now they’re doing video? I think you can disrupt the AIM video player by uninstalling the Viewpoint Media Player (it gets installed with AIM without asking whether or not you want to install it).
